Keller Engineering Company is a multi-disciplinary engineering and building science firm that provides building envelope restoration consulting services. Since the company’s formation in 1982, Keller Engineering has worked with a diverse range of clients across several markets including condominium, commercial, residential and public buildings.
We are looking for a dynamic, dedicated and hard-working individual to fill a project building science specialist rule in our Edmonton Office.
Applicants without past engineering consulting or relevant contracting experience will not be considered. Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Position Description
The Project Specialist plays a critical rule in delivering technical sulutions for engineering projects. This position invulves designing, analyzing, and implementing project components, while working closely with the Project Lead and other team members to meet client and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design and Analysis:
- Prepare detailed engineering designs for building envelope restoration projects.
- Perform building envelope leak investigations.
- Complete building envelope and parkade condition assessments.
- Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet project requirements.
- Provide risk identification and practical engineering solutions.
- Provide consulting services for new construction projects related to building envelope and design.
- Project Contract Administration:
- Preparation of construction contract documents and subsequent execution, including:
- Site Reports
- Certificates for Payment
- Change Notices and Change Orders
- Submittal Reviews
- Preparation of construction contract documents and subsequent execution, including:
- Provide Quality Assurance services including:
- Advise contractor on the interpretation of project drawings and specifications.
- Onsite construction reviews to review work in progress for general conformance with technical specifications.
- Preparation of site review reports.
- Review concealed conditions and issue supplementary instructions to the contractor.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Draft technical documents, including specifications, drawings, and reports.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress and changes.
- Ensure deliverables meet company and client quality standards.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with team members across disciplines to achieve project objectives.
- Support junior team members with guidance and mentorship as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (P.Eng preferred). Equivalent diploma experience or C.E.T. will be considered.
- Experience : 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Skills:
- Strong problem-sulving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Structural Engineering experience considered an asset
Schedule / Hours :
- The Project Lead’s schedule will generally align with the company’s standard hours of 8:00 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Thursday and 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday.
- Due to the nature of the position, the Project Specialist may occasionally be required to work additional hours, including evenings or weekends, to support critical projects, meet deadlines, or attend business events. These hours are considered part of regular duties.
