Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

This position is for the Ottawa office and is for a one year term. Reporting to on site Management, the Administrative Assistant/Receptionist will respond to all incoming calls, greet and direct all visitors, answer inquiries in a positive and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing support to the President, Director of Client Relations, and Founder/Senior Consultant
  • To answer all incoming calls, and respond to caller's inquiries in a positive, professional manner
  • To redirect calls as appropriate and take clear, concise messages when required;
  • To greet, assist and direct all visitors
  • To prepare packages and arrange courier pick up
  • To arrange meeting room schedule and bookings
  • Scheduling appointments and meetings
  • Binding reports as necessary
  • Photocopying, scanning, faxing & filing
  • Receive and process cheques
  • Typing and transcribing reports
  • Writing project confirmation letters
  • Using office programs to create project files and set ups
  • Corresponding with clients regarding project administrative requirements
  • Maintaining customer relationship management (CRM) software
  • To assist with small projects as required by other administrative support (i.e. labels, bulk mailing, etc.)
  • To complete other duties as assigned
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in reception is considered an asset
  • Must exhibit professional and polished telephone manner
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Highly organized and detail focused
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-Mail)

Jr Construction Costs Analyst

Keller Engineering is seeking a candidate for a position as a Junior Construction Costs Analyst in our Ottawa, Ontario office to join our Building Assessment Team.

The Analyst will provide a range of cost consulting services to the Building Assessment and Restoration teams for new and existing clients, primarily in the private sector. This involves a practical understanding of construction methodology and estimation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read construction drawings and specifications
  • Trade/product knowledge
  • Ability to prepare and complete trade and element take-offs based of existing building drawings
  • Ability to prepare and complete trade and element take-offs based on conceptual project description
  • Understanding of factors influencing construction costs and applying that knowledge to pricing estimates
  • Ability to use appropriate software (CAD, Office)
Ancillary Responsibilities
  • Assist in building conditions assessment and report writing
  • Change order analysis – interpretation, take-off, pricing
  • Reconcile estimates with tenders and budgets
Position Requirements
  • Diploma in Civil/Construction/Architectural Technologist, construction management, quantity surveying, building science, or in a related field
  • 1-2 years experience in the construction sector
