Job description:

Keller Engineering Company is a multi-disciplinary engineering and building science firm that provides building envelope restoration consulting services. Since the company’s formation in 1982, Keller Engineering has worked with a diverse range of clients across several markets including condominium, commercial, residential and public buildings.

We are looking for a dynamic, dedicated and hard-working individual to fill a leadership role in our Edmonton Office.

Applicants without past building envelope engineering consulting will not be considered. Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week

Position Description

The Building Science Team Lead is responsible for leading all day-to-day operations for the Edmonton branch office, overseeing engineering projects and technical teams, and ensuring high-quality project delivery across all service lines. This role drives business development initiatives within the Edmonton market. The Team Lead is also actively involved in project execution as a Project Lead. This role reports to the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Delivery:

    1. Act as Project Lead on various projects, ensuring successful planning, execution, and delivery. Oversee
      multidisciplinary teams to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are consistently achieved.
      Provide technical guidance, review, and quality assurance across all project types, including building
      assessments, reserve fund studies, and related services.
  1. Business Development:

    1. The Team Lead will work with the Marketing and Business Development Manager to establish a strategic approach to
      market growth within Edmonton.
    2. Identify opportunities for new work and maintain relationships with clients. Develop proposals for all projects
      and submit them for review.
    3. Represent the Edmonton branch at industry events, client meetings, and community engagements to enhance Keller’s
      market presence and reputation.
  1. Team Leadership:

    1. Provide leadership and oversight to all staff and activities within the Edmonton branch office.
    2. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment to enhance employee engagement.
    3. Promote the company culture by aligning team priorities with national standards and practices.
  1. Collaboration & Reporting:

    1. Work closely with the Branch Manager and Regional Director to address operational challenges, staffing needs,
      scheduling, and resource sharing.
    2. Participate in national initiatives, committees, and coordination activities supporting the company’s national
      standards.
  1. Client Relations:

    1. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
    2. Ensure client satisfaction by understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
    3. Provide regular project updates and manage client expectations.
  1. Technical Oversight:

    1. Review and approve engineering designs, reports, and specifications.
    2. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
    3. Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during project execution.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (P.Eng. preferred). Equivalent diploma experience or C.E.T. designation will be considered.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in engineering project management, with at least 3 years in a Project Lead or equivalent leadership role.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent technical knowledge of building systems, codes, and assessment practices.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain team productivity and morale.

Schedule / Hours :

  • The Project Lead’s schedule will generally align with the company’s standard hours of 8:00 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Thursday and 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday.
  • Due to the nature of the position, the Project Lead may occasionally be required to work additional hours, including evenings or weekends, to support critical projects, meet deadlines, or attend business events. These hours are considered part of the Lead’s regular duties.
