Building Science Team Lead

Keller Engineering is a multi-disciplinary engineering and building science firm that provides building and systems assessment and associated repair and renewal consulting services. Since the company’s formation in 1982, Keller Engineering has worked with a diverse range of clients across several markets including condominium, commercial, residential, and public buildings.

We are looking for a dynamic, dedicated, and experienced individual to fill the role of Building Science Team Lead in our Edmonton Office.

Applicants without past engineering consulting or relevant contracting experience will not be considered.

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

As Building Science Team Lead, you will perform or oversee a variety of technical and leadership responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting visual and destructive investigations to diagnose issues related to the building envelope and structural systems and recommending appropriate repair solutions

  • Performing building envelope condition assessments and preparing detailed technical reports

  • Preparing engineering drawings and specifications for building restoration projects in accordance with relevant codes and standards

  • Conducting on-site field reviews for conformance with design documents

  • Providing consulting services for new construction projects related to building envelope and design

  • Overseeing contract administration and managing project timelines and deliverables

  • Mentoring junior engineering staff and supporting their technical development

  • Collaborating with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a College or University-level program in Engineering (Architectural, Civil/Structural) or Building Science-related disciplines

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering consulting environment

  • P.Eng., E.I.T., or eligible for licensure with APEGA

  • Strong knowledge of building envelope systems and materials

  • Must be willing and physically able to work at heights, including use of ladders, swing stages, and rooftop access

  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured personal vehicle for travel to project sites (mileage reimbursed)

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities

  • Familiarity with building components, envelope systems, and structural systems

  • Understanding of building and fire codes (asset)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
