A Technical Audit of the Heritage Wing and the
1932 Structure of the Empire Life Complex identified the need for
major upgrades of the building envelope and mechanical and electrical
systems before the buildings could be re-used as offices and training
facilities.
The building envelope work entailed the replacement
of all windows and the installation of insulation and vapour barriers.
The interior of the buildings were completely re-configured to meet
current Building Code requirements while respecting the heritage
character of the structures.
